There is need...
and then there is Fate.

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome - especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom - so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do - and sacrifice - for her.

When Daimons infiltrate the covenants and attack students, the gods send furies - lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the covenants and to the gods, and that includes the apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.

When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

Opening Sentence: I stared at the ceiling of the gymnasium, little black splotches dancing in front of me.

"Or maybe it was the soul that worked that way, seeking out warmth and touch, needing to prove that we were still in the world of living."

"Aw, did you just fall?"

"No." I rolled onto my back, wincing. "I attacked the floor."

Seth stiffened and let out a strangled sound. "Please tell me you did not take off your clothes."

I giggled. "No."

Review:

'Pure' by Jennifer L. Armentrout was an enjoyable attention to the Covenant Series. It continued practically where the first left off, action packed from beginning to end.

We continue with Alex's story and her quest to survive school, become the next Apollyon beside Seth without being killed first, and not letting her love for Aiden become public knowledge, something else she would be killed for, doing.

Alex is stilled being trained, Aiden is trying to keep his distance and Seth is becoming extremely... cuddly. Alex has become practically ostricized because of what her mother did and she has few true friends left. And the one good true friend that she does have left, well lets say his story isn't the happiest.

And then as if things weren't already great Alex must go to council, where she finds herself under attack by the elders and mysterious attacks on her life. 'Pure' is action packed and a tone of fun. I found myself smiling, laughing and crying. All at the same time. But it left me craving to know what was going to happen next. Would Alex finally be able to find a way to be with Aiden? Or is there love truly destined to end in heartbreak? Will Alex make it to her 18 birthday and become an Apollyon along with Seth? Or will she be killed by the ones that want her dead?

And the ending of the book. Mind boggling. Oh how I did not see that coming. It made the book even better for me. This was a great attention to the series and I can only imagine 'Deity' the next book in the series will be just as good, if not better.
